D&B AUDIOTECHNIK
 C4

Here you can see that it is a long way from the early sound reinforcement leviathans to something as compact as the E0, from the legendary F2 to either the incredibly versatile Q-Series or the extraordinarily dynamic bandwidth of the high powered J-Series loudspeakers. This chronicle of events shows how d&b audiotechnik has covered the distance from the first 'black boxes' to the d&b System reality, from its first facilities in a garage in the German village of Korb to a company with offices and partners on all five continents.

D&B AUDIOTECHNIK
 D12

The d&b D12 amplifier is a two channel power amplifier incorporating digital signal processors (DSP) to provide speaker specific set ups that include comprehensive protection functions for all current d&b loudspeakers. The D12 has both digital and analog signal inputs, loudspeaker outputs, remote control and monitoring abilities and interfaces, a sine wave and pink noise signal generator and controls and status indicators. A user definable 4-band parametric equalizer, and signal delay capability of up to 340 ms are incorporated, these can be applied independently to each channel. The D12 also includes d&b SenseDrive for accurate control of the driver membranes in d&b subwoofers, resulting in an extremely precise low frequency performance. d&b load monitoring can provide both LF and HF driver status information within systems containing multiple drivers, even if these drivers are passively crossed over. All of these functions and parameters can be easily accessed and controlled via the LCD in conjunction with the digital rotary encoder. The D12 has a switch mode power supply enabling use without any adjustments for the supply voltage.

 EPAC

The E-PAC, housed in a 2 rack unit high, 7.5″ rugged enclosure, incorporates a power supply, single channel power amplifier, all necessary protection circuits, a remote interface, controls and indicators. The internal controller is based on DSP with Delta-Sigma signal conversion and incorporates the audio signal processing and complex protection circuits specific to the characteristics of the relevant loudspeaker. The E-PAC is pre-programmed for the C6/C690, CI6, CI9 and all E-Series loudspeakers (including the E3 and E12 sub cabinets) and their different operational modes. These configurations are selected by setting DIP switches on the rear panel. A LINEAR mode can be selected for MAX or other passive loudspeakers. In LO IMP mode the E-PAC can drive up to two C6/C690, CI6, CI9, E9 or four E3 cabinets at reduced output (-6 dB). This is useful for situations such as conferences and functions where multiple speakers will be driven at low level.

 F1220

As d&b is aware, even though some of their products are now discontinued there are a considerable number still being used within the professional reinforcement market to this day. In order to service this market all data and documentation relating to these products is contained within the specific loudspeaker sections on the right. These F-Series heritage products were the first d&b loudspeaker systems to be driven by integrated amplifier/controller units, with the B1-SUB being launched in 1985 followed by the F1220 in 1988 which evolved into the F1222 in 2000.

 J SERIES

This two day workshop is an introduction to the loudspeakers within the J-Series and the V-Series and their use in the working environment. It includes an introduction to basic electroacoustics and familiarization with d&b mounting and rigging accessories. Two days of explicit knowledge about efficient planning, set up and combination of these two Series. Plenty of practical exercises makes it a realistic model of the daily work.
It is offered at various locations and depending on this the content and order may vary as shown in the schedule bar below. The content can be seen by clicking on Details against each entry.

P1200

The P1200A mainframe is housed in a 3 rack unit high, 19" rack mount enclosure. The mainframe incorporates power supplies for the controllers and mainframe electronics, two power amplifiers, softstart, monitoring and protection circuits with the associated indicators and all connectors. All functions can be remotely interrogated and altered via the d&b Remote Interface Bridge (RIB). Used with d&b C or E-Series loudspeakers, the mainframe can be fitted with either one loudspeaker controller module plus the mono option, or two loudspeaker controller modules. The two channel power amplifier in the P1200A mainframe is a low feedback, low distortion design, fully protected from damage by overheating or connection to faulty or inappropriate loads, and it exhibits good stability into reactive loads along with excellent handling of fast rise-time signals and signal overload conditions. The P1200A is also available as a dual voltage (115 V / 230 V) autosensing version.

 Q1

The Q1 is a passive 2-way loudspeaker housing two 10" LF drivers positioned in a dipolar arrangement and a 1.3" HF compression driver fitted to a toroidal waveshaping device. The 75° constant directivity horizontal dispersion pattern is maintained down to 400 Hz, while the vertical HF dispersion of 15° allows the Q1 to be used to construct vertical columns that produce a curved coherent wavefront. The mechanical and acoustical design of the cabinet enables vertical splay angles to be set between 0° and 14°. Q1 cabinets can therefore be used in vertical configurations starting from two cabinets with a 15° to 30° dispersion, up to 20 cabinets with a fully user and venue defined vertical profile. The Q1 cabinet is constructed from marine plywood, incorporates a pair of handles and has an impact resistant paint finish. The front of the loudspeaker is protected by a rigid metal grill covered with replaceable acoustically transparent foam, and two EP5 or NL4 connectors wired in parallel are mounted on the rear panel.

 T10

The T10 is a passive 2-way loudspeaker housing two 6.5" drivers positioned in a dipolar arrangement and a 1.4" HF compression driver and a passive crossover network. The T10 can be used both as a line array and as a high directivity point source loudspeaker. The HF driver is fitted to a unique waveguide horn producing vertical line source directivity with a 90° horizontal pattern that is maintained down to approximately 600 Hz. An acoustic lens placed in front of the horn widens horizontal dispersion to 105°, rotation of the horn by 90° relative to this produces an accurate point source dispersion, transforming a vertically oriented T10 into a stand-alone full range loudspeaker with 90° horizontal and 35° vertical directivity pattern. The T10 cabinet is constructed from polyurethane integral hard foam, incorporates integrated line array rigging hardware and has an impact resistant finish. The front of the loudspeaker cabinet is protected by a rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent foam, and two EP5 or NL4 connectors wired in parallel are mounted on the rear panel.

 Y SERIES

This two day workshop offers information about the Y-Series and the T-Series systems and their use in the working environment: Two days of in-depth knowledge about efficient planning and set up of the two series. Plenty of practical exercises makes it a realistic model of the daily work, including the integrated d&b workflow that improves efficiency all the way from the start of a project through planning and simulation to management of the final result.

The workshop is offered at various locations and accordingly content and order may vary as shown in the schedule bar below. The content can be seen by clicking on Details against each entry.

An introduction to basic electroacoustics and familiarization with d&b mounting and rigging accessories can be booked separately with the d&basics 1-day workshop up front.
